Job Openings: Member Service Advisor (Personal Banker)

Location of Position:Hammond, Valparaiso, and Winfield
Salary:$17.50 per hour
Days:Monday - Saturday

Duties:

The Member Service Advisor serves as liaison between the member and the credit union. Provide information to members and potential members by phone or in person, including information on the full range of credit union products and services. Open accounts for members, assist members having difficulties with account, and interview and process members requesting account closures. Processing members request for a variety of loan products.

  • Greet and welcome members and visitors to the credit union in a professional manner.  Represent the credit union to members in a courteous and professional manner and provide prompt, efficient and accurate service.
  • Provide in-person and by-telephone general and specific service-related information concerning credit union products or policies.
  • Respond to all e-mail or other electronic requests submitted by members, providing professional, prompt, efficient and accurate service and information.
  • Respond to members’ requests, problems, and complaints, resolving issues, and/or directing them to the appropriate person for specific information and assistance.  Assist Supervisor of Member Services to handle more complex questions and problems for other Member Service Representatives.
  • Open new accounts and services.  Assist members in completing all necessary paperwork. Set up new account files and provide members with all necessary information for membership.
  • Promote credit union products and services based on member needs that are obtained from member interviews during account openings.  Actively cross-sell products to develop the member relationship.
  • Assist, process requests and disburse loans from new or existing members for all lending products.
  • Maintain up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services.
  • Maintain up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all related policies and procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Interview and processes all members requesting account closing.  Actively attempt to save account and increase member satisfaction.
  • Data entry of new check cards in to our third-party vendor.
  • Conduct courtesy calls to all new members within one week of a member opening a new account or service.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school education or equivalent
  • 1-2 years general banking experience
  • 1-2 years of consumer loan processing experience
  • 1 year of home equity loan processing experience
  • Cross selling and consultative sales experience preferred
  • Bilingual-Spanish speaking preferred
