To My REGIONAL Family

A Message from President/CEO (Retiring) Jill Banning

Dear Members,

When I joined the REGIONAL team in February of 1987 as the Computer Operator, I never imagined that 39 years later I would be announcing my retirement from the same credit union. My first few years at the credit union was full of excitement as I was quickly promoted to Operations Manager in late 1987 and then Executive Vice President in 1988. In March 1994, I stepped in as Interim CEO, and by May 1994, I was honored to be named President & CEO.  I realized very early in my career path that I found much more than a great job – I found a mission. I recognized I had the honor to get up each morning and go to work and make decisions that prioritized people over profits. While tough decisions had to be made over the years, the mission to serve the membership ALWAYS came first.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of working alongside outstanding board members, dedicated colleagues, and most importantly, serving a membership that has grown to become one of the largest in the State. Along the way, I have made lifelong friends and memories that I will carry with me forever.

During my tenure, we have experienced nearly every type of economic and societal challenge imaginable, from the Black Monday stock market collapse in the late 1980s, the Savings and Loan crisis of the 1990s, the dot-com bubble burst in the early 2000s, the September 11 attacks, the Troubled Asset Relief Program, to the adoption of Bitcoin, and the COVID-19 pandemic, along with countless periods of economic growth and change. Through it all, REGIONAL has stood tall, adapting, thriving, and continuing to serve you, our valued members.

When I began in 1987, our assets were $35 million, and today they exceed $182 million. Our loan balances have grown from just over $8.6 million to more than $127 million. We have expanded from a single branch to four locations, employing more than 50 dedicated team members. These achievements are a testament to the commitment, teamwork, and trust of every member, team member, and board member who has been part of this journey.

I could not be prouder of my career or of the remarkable growth and resilience of REGIONAL. As I step away, I do so with confidence that the credit union will continue to thrive, serving our members with the same dedication and care that has always been our hallmark. Thank you for your trust, your support, and for allowing me the honor of serving you all these years. It has truly been the privilege of a lifetime.

With sincere gratitude,

Jill R. Banning
